Yair & Julia’s Washington D.C. Engagement!

Jenny and I have been on a serious roll when it comes to killer engagement sessions and awesome couples…in other states. We packed up the gear for a weekend in our fair nation’s capital this last weekend, and we got rewarded with redonkulous weather and two super fun shoots.

Julia and Yair met in D.C. and their law careers have kept them rooted there for the last few years. While they will tell you they aren’t the “power couple” that their jobs imply, they are certainly a ton of fun and VERY in love. As D.C. was buzzing with the Cherry Blossom Festival, they wanted to get a lot of shots featuring the little guys. We figured we’d get a 7:30 a.m. start to beat the crowds at the tidal basin where most of the trees are centered, only to arrive to an absolute gong show THOUSANDS of people and photographers trying to capture the little pink buds.

It was funny enough to see so many photogs with enough gear to shoot the Olympics, angling for different shots of…trees. Throw a beautiful couple in the mix and it was a veritable feeding frenzy. People were literally pushing us out of the way to get their own shots of Julia and Yair in the blossoms. Full on paparazzi moments. Still, these guys took it all totally in stride and led us on a killer tour of their favorite spots in the city…the Lincoln Memorial, DuPont Circle, Adams Morgan, Georgetown. So fun. The weather was awesome, Julia and Yair were super relaxed, and we topped off the day with lunch on the Georgetown waterfront. I LOVE my job.

Thanks of course to Julia and Yair, but also to Heather at Calluna Events for sending them to us! We can’t wait for the September wedding!

Julia and Yair - Hey Nate and Jenny! Thanks for the awesome pictures and the great blog post! You guys are so sweet and the pics look incredible, exactly what we pictured when we asked you to come during the Cherry Blossom Festival. Actually, they’re even better than we imagined. We really lucked out with the weather and the timing, and of course with the awesome photographers!

Thanks again for sharing such a great day with us. We were worried the shoot would be awkward with lots of posing and forced shots, but it wasn’t like that at all — you made it so relaxing and fun for us to just walk around and have a good time. We can’t wait to see you guys again at the wedding!
